Job Overview
We are a Phase IIb clinical stage biopharma company that develops a break-through technology for oxygen therapeutics, aiming to address the root cause for many fatal diseases such as cancer, stroke, respiratory distress, etc. – tissue hypoxia. Our platform currently has three clinical programs – two Phase IIb, and one phase Ib, as well as outstanding pre-clinical results. Our Phase IIa trials in brain tumor and stroke yielded strong safety and efficacy signals. Further, the technology is de-risked, stemming from diagnostic field, and we can refer to approximately 2000 patients’ safety data. The company also boasts incredible capital efficiency, comprehensive IP, strong infrastructure, and experienced management team and board/advisors. The interim CFO is a crucial member of the executive team for next stage fund raising and scaling up of the company.
Responsibilities
Leadership for finance, accounting, and general administrative functions such as HR and IT.
Team with CEO and board members for fund raising activities, whether it is private funding or access to public market; Participate in industry conferences and events
Lead investor relationship activities
Lead compliance efforts – including but not limited to SEC, grant authorities, and other government entities
Mentor and develop staff
Candidate Profile
Passionate and tenacious about life science industry
Hands-on: We are a very small team. Being able to roll up the sleeves, perform financial analysis and reconciliation is key; Willing to team up with controller and other staff
Must have hands on experience with public company experience, ideally have gone through the going public process
Managed smaller size public companies, deep understanding of the balance of handling lean team vs. public company requirements
Critical, big picture thinking, while attention to important details
Strong SEC interface, corporate governance, and compliance experiences
Methodical/think through things, able to connect the dots
Good management and interpersonal skills, grow and mentor staff
Good at communicating/update to investors, budgeting/planning, and risk mitigation (not only just cash/finance, but other controls in the company)
Good experience in managing insurance, tax matters, and accounting requirements update
Knowledge/experiences with pharma industry is strongly preferred, understanding how clinical trial works
M&A, licensing knowledge and experiences are preferred
Willing to dive into operation, product, and some basic regulatory knowledge
BS in finance or accounting required. MBA preferred but not a must
CPA strongly preferred, other designation such as CMA or CFA welcome
